That culty phenomenon of Napa wine that has made the canyons of Calistoga’s eastern hills some of the hottest real estate for artisan, high-end, tippy-top shelf Napa Cabs. That’s the utterly PRISTINE vineyard where this unheralded, 93 POINT Angles Cab was born. It’s also where winemaker and proprietor Nicholas Bleecher was born, too. Nick’s the youngest of three, born to Marla and Dale Bleecher – who started Jericho Canyon back in 1989. Nick grew up amongst the vines, working at least 3 hours a day in the vineyard almost as soon as he was able to walk. After cutting his teeth at one of Napa’s most idyllic properties, he left to study winemaking in college and tour the world’s top wine regions, before returning as the prodigal son to take his place on the Jericho Canyon crew. He’s been Jericho Canyon’s winemaker since 2015, and ten years working with Michel Rolland is the sort of pedigree you can TASTE!!! I’ve said it before – but it bears repeating…this is one of the most romantic child labor stories since Dickens!!! The already blossoming legend of Napa’s 2023 vintage is on full display here – the inky concentration, the never-ending structure, the gorgeously ripe, plush, and downright HEDONISTIC levels of fruit, just….AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! Impenetrably dark, utterly impervious to light, with a heady kirsch note that gives you cherries of all shapes, sizes, and hues, distilled to their very essence. Waves of pomegranate and earthy clay richness, with wispy floral accents of wisteria and lilacs. Tongue tingling, teeth-staining goodness that is certainly NOT FOR THE SHY! Pencil lead minerality and salty, iron-tinted, smoky meatiness give this depth, and do yourself a solid by swirling this beauty for a few minutes to let it all come together. This ROCKS! I mean, you saw the whole 93 POINTS thing, right? And our exceptional $25 PRICE? Welp…whatever are you waiting for? Don’t you like saving $85 a bottle on KILLER Napa Cab?
