Armida Zinfandel Tina's Block Maple Vineyards Dry Creek Valley 2021
North Coast · Tina's Block of Maple Vineyards · 100% Zinfandel · red
About this wine
Zinfandel is BACK! Armida wants to give everyone (well, not everyone, they don’t make THAT much wine) a slice of California – and what feels more old school-meets-new school CA than a glass of this?! They’re showing off Tina’s Block, a tiny 2-acre site on prized benchland in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. This plot has been going for over a hundred years, but the juice feels like it still has something to prove. And in the exquisite 2021 growing season, that shouldn't be hard. Prove it to us, Tina! Did your dry-farmed vines uproot their gnarly old limbs and go skipping through an English springtime garden – rose petals flying, star jasmine ablaze? Because this is bouncing with fresh perfume, super exuberant, dizzyingly lifted. Full-bodied with ripe raspberries and cherries, a dark slash of licorice... all sailing on a silk-scarf texture and kitten-footed tannins. There’s just enough tautness and earthy structure to keep me hugged tightly by the blessed sandy loam soil of the American motherland of Zinfandel. Amen!
