Tuscany’s tippy-top BEST plots of old vine Sangiovese – with some plots up to 135 YEARS OLD – crafted by the mad genius of Florence, Bibi Graetz! He calls this 2021 Colore his “DREAM WINE” – a downright stunning expression of some of Italy’s oldest vines, with the depth and concentration that made 2021’s harvest one of the greatest EVER for the region, all gently fermented and pressed, aged in 100% neutral barriques and casks, and vigorously selected to make sure only the absolute crème de la crème was blended and bottled together. Oh yeah…I mentioned that we have it for the LOWEST price in the entire world, right? Mic drop! 100 POINTS, plus no less than FOUR 99 point scores, and when I popped the cork – you best believe the WHOLE office at Last Bottle HQ came a’running! Sadly, that means I only got a single glass to savor…but one Johnny Depp MEGA-PINT was enough to prove this is one of the hands-down greatest Tuscan reds I have ever tasted! The floral perfume! That dusty plum, and warm Tuscan baked earth, with sage-scrub herbs of lavender, nepitella, and wild fennel…and this beauty is just getting started! Sanguine minerality and rooibos tea accents, with red cherries and pomegranates, laced with crumbly shortbread, and seasoned with some salty, sea air. Beautifully intricate, EXTRAORDINARILY complex, and with the sort of purity and linear intensity that is going to carry this brilliantly for 30 years or more! The texture is like liquid cashmere, the structure is impressively rigid, yet intricately woven like a fine tapestry. Not as overt and fruit-forward as past iterations of this simply TOP wine – this is elegance, and hidden power, all dressed up as a seductive tease of vinous brilliance. Fantastic now – even better with time, and indubitably one of the finest bottles in all of Italy, worthy of any table in the world! No wonder it got 100 POINTS! Best price anywhere…as long as it lasts, that is!
