Dauvissat is back — and while it may not be THAT Dauvissat — we’re exploiting familial relations like a Hollywood nepo-baby today…’cause this 93 POINT Chablis…from the cousin of the one and only Vincent Dauvissat absolutely SLAYS!!! UNDER $30, too??? What a world! What a day for life-giving, tongue-tingling CHABLIS!!! A rising star in the region, that we’ve absolutely FLIPPED head-over-heels for these past few years, with a classical touch, some BRILLIANT plots of land (wait ‘till you hear about this!) and a young, cutting-edge winemaker with some SERIOUS pedigree. The critics have started to take note — so no telling how long these prices stay soooo freaking low — but hey, we’re Last Bottle…and while the sun may be shining…we’re about to make it RAIN! Gloriously golden Chablis, that is! I would argue Chablis is the GREATEST spot on the planet to grow Chardonnay — and for this EPIC deal, we’re talking about a little parcel of 34 year old vines in the commune of Fyé…a tucked away little plot surrounded on three sides by the GRAND CRU plots of Blanchot, Valmur, and Les Clos!!! Can you even IMAGINE? This sloping hillside parcel is essentially sitting at the gates of Chardonnay heaven, where ancient oyster shells, and chipped sedimentary limestone from the seafloors during the Jurassic era of this planet have lifted up — all in the hopes of making this delectable ambrosia worthy of your time and a few bucks of your hard earned cash. And you know what?! WORTH IT!!! Under $30 is a dream for a wine like this — and if you thought their Petit Chablis sold out in record time a couple weeks back…just wait ‘till you see THIS!!! The perfectly ripe, exceptionally balanced flavor of PRISTINE golden apples, and chipped flint, with an uplift of lemon zest, and the salty tang of pink grapefruit and oysters, all with this oily, encapsulating texture that clings to your tastebuds, and then washes away like the receding tide, leaving you with a dreamy, glazed over expression of pure, stupefying joy, and a mouthful of savory expectations. It’s a vibe that is part transcendental bliss, and part 9 volt battery to the tongue (I mean…tell me you DIDN’T try that at least once as a kid!)...the point is…get this. Get a lot. Drink it as soon as it arrives, even if it isn’t ice cold…but be sure to tuck a bottle straight away into the fridge for later. What a wine!
