Let’s do this!!! Who could possibly be a better Wine Wednesday candidate than our beloved DOMAINE SERGUIER?!?! Tiny production, crafted in two unbelievably small underground cellars across the street from one another in the ancient cobbled heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape herself, by a passionate and talented husband & wife team, who sometimes start off a tasting with freshly picked black truffles and house-made pâté…I mean, C’MON!!! And this ALL-TIME CdP value at UNDER $30? With a solid 91 POINTS? No one. NO ONE! Oh, sweet Serguier…how I have missed thee!!! Top-notch juice, hailing from some seriously dreamy, ancient vines, at the far-n-away best price in the entire USA!!! “Another very pretty, floral, and polished 2023…nicely balanced, and polished on the palate, with outstanding length…it's well worth following over the coming 10-12 years or more.” — Jeb Dunnuck I mean — all that sounds like it deserves a bit higher score in my view! So I’m bumping this up to 93—94 point territory…‘cause, seriously…how many other artisan Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s can you score for UNDER $30 these days? Not many, good people, not many at all. Daniel and Aurélie are some of the coolest folks in all of CdP — and you long-time Last Bottlers know — they’ve been making KILLER, under-the-radar wines for years! It’s been a couple years since I’ve made it to their cellars in the heart of the old CdP village — but something assures me, these cellars are as loaded with history as they ever have been. Can’t wait to be back…but sipping on this vibrant, elegant, and deceptively powerful CdP is one hell of a consolation prize!!! The violets and lavender, with fresh strawberries, and black plums, with raspberries, too!!! A kiss of savory herbs and fresh pipe tobacco, with peppery, smoked meats, and polished, newly stretched leather. About as classic and old school as you are like to find in Châteauneuf these days — and I mean that as the absolute highest praise possible. 70% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre, 12% Syrah, 4% Cinsault, and 2% mixed whites (Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier.) Gorgeous with or without food — and just getting better and better with every swirl and every minute in the glass!!! The length and ageability make this stand apart from any other value-driven CdP I’ve ever tasted…so at this downright SILLY price…get enough to last you several years or more! You can thank me later…‘cause OVER 55% OFF makes this an UNBEATABLE find! While it lasts!!! **Heads up, Last Bottlers!
