Terrific 95 POINT Super Tuscan on the board! Chianti’s heritage grapes combine for one MIRACULOUS Super Tuscan from an all-time Last Bottle favorite! Il Molino di Grace, good people! You savvy Last Bottle long-timers have been waiting patiently for this, I know – and my phone has been blowing up like the Jerry Jones trade hotline! Chianti’s take on Super Tuscans hits another dinger to the cheap seats – so keep an eye out for the fearsome Phillies’ Karen – ‘cause this is DEFINITELY worth fighting over! 90% Sangiovese, plus 5% each Canaiolo and Colorino from a single hillside parcel up at 580 meters in elevation, and aged almost exclusively in large, neutral casks for a full year. As timeless as the art on the label – and the vineyards themselves, which have been continuously farmed for at least 350 years. If you love Italian wine – your ship has come in!!! The cherries, and blackberries, with that iron ore intensity, and zippy orange peel freshness…YES!!! It’s salty, minerally, and infused with the rolling hillsides, galestro soils, and ancient blood of old ITALIA herself! This is more classically and purely Italian than my boy Mario Baglioni – a chef, trained by his nonna, who speaks unnecessarily loudly, while emphatically motioning with his hands throughout, and HATES pineapple on pizza, thinks the Olive Garden is hell on earth, and will fight anyone who dares to put cream (or peas) in their carbonara. So THERE. If that ain’t Italian, then I’m not heading back to Tuscany in a couple weeks…and you better BELIEVE I’m headed to Tuscany! (Woohoo!) Best of all – I’ll be revisiting the simply inspiring Il Molino Estate – a jewel in the heart of the Conca d’Oro, where the rolling hillsides of dense forestland occasionally break with jaw-dropping vineyards and mesmerizing stone villas. Il Molino di Grace is one such spot – and their organically certified vines produce some of the best fruit in all of Tuscany. Normally $150 at the winery, and with only 300 CASES ever made – the fact that we have this here…NOW…for UNDER $50?!
