About this wine
“The richest, most dense [version of this wine] we’ve ever bottled. The wine is dark and the bouquet is shy. You won’t really “get it” until you put it in your mouth…” – The winery What. A. MARATHON! We shattered records — including most coffee pods destroyed in a single hour — and all we can say is…YOU ROCK!!! These wines are going to make your day, your year to come, and even beyond — but we are not done YET!!! Let the AFTERPARTY commence! One legendary Napa Valley producer, and we’ve got them LOCKED IN for MYSTERY OFFERS all…day…LONG!!! Yes, my friends, we’ve got a line-up of mysterious — yet not completely unsolvable — mystery bottles that we are gonna line up like traffic cones, and then blitz through one, then the next, then another and another…until every last bottle has gone to a happy home! Starting with this 93 POINT red blend coming at you for a whopping 64% OFF! This Spring Mountain mainstay is off the beaten path (no, it’s not Elivette), but for those dedicated pilgrims who found this bowlful of vinous goodness…your appreciation of California wine has been forever altered! The wildness of the property, the risk-taking, entrepreneurial spirit that made these folks Napa Valley trailblazers — the impressive age-worthiness of even the less expensive wines of their portfolio…it is all too much!!! These folks almost single-handedly revived Champagne-style, multi-vintage blending here in the Napa Valley…just did it with Bordeaux grapes from their glorious estate on the western hills like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. This 93 POINT phenom is a near 50/50 split of the 2014 and 2013 vintages — both EPIC, all-time greats in the pantheon of Napa’s greatest growing seasons, with a base of almost half Merlot, then a huge chunk of Cabernet Sauvignon, and complementary dashes of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Released originally in 2018 — nearly a decade later this baby is really strutting its stuff…spiced pomegranates, roasted plums, minty menthol, smoky hay, and this forest duff earthiness that brings out a mix of scorched wild herbs, and dried porcini mushrooms, with a final flourish of dried cherries, and fresh pencil shavings. The tannins are structured and powerful, yet the wine has an inky suppleness to it, making this a perfect match for meaty game and leaner cuts of beef. Soooo…dang…awesome! I mean 64% OFF!!! 93 POINTS!!! Under $20, too? Go, go, GOOOOOOOO!!! More to MYSTERIES to come…all…day…long! All Marathon orders will be combined and shipped from our West Coast warehouse. Please allow up to 6 weeks for us to reach all states. Additional Qs? Check out our FAQs and this handy Marathon page!
