About this wine
Roberto Voerzio! One of the most sought-after names in all of Piemonte — from one of the greatest Barolo vintages of ALL TIME...and this Last Bottle EXCLUSIVE bottling of his La Morra holdings flat-out DELIVERS! La Morra Barolo EXCLUSIVE! And at an ASTOUNDING 67+% OFF??? Oh, Roberto, Roberto…how I LOVE thee!!! We’re BACK with the newest vintage of our very own Roberto Voerzio bottling…the remarkable “Arlecchino Innamorato”!!! If you scored the 96 point 2020 bottling — you know. But now, as if the most KILLER secret deal in all of Barolo couldn’t get any better…I give you…the GLORIOUS 2021 vintage! Five out of Five Stars from Decanter. A nearly perfect 99 POINTS from Wine Spectator. Considered by many to be in the Top Five BEST Barolo vintages of ALL TIME. I’ve tasted exactly four Barolos from this vintage…and every…single…one was as epic and entrancing as all the hype suggests. I’m loading up on all my faves — from the Broccardo we featured a couple weeks back, to some back-alley Gaja from the shadiest character I know (and love) in the wine biz, and…it goes without saying…THIS!!! No scores yet on this EXCLUSIVE bottling — but every… single…bottle of Roberto’s other 2021 Barolos has scored between 95 to 99 points…so we’re not going to sit on this another second! To think — it all flows back from one fortuitous luncheon in Napa with the man himself, and then a magical, bucket-list visit to his mad-scientist’s laboratory/winery in Piemonte…and BOOM! The loving and lovable jester known as “Arlecchino Innamorato” has become all OURS!!! This sold out in a FLASH last vintage — and as delectably approachable, and unbelievably tasty as that beauty was…this is an even BIGGER showstopper. The depth, and age-ability, the sheer concentration, the rampaging pleasure that ricochets your brain like a pinball wizard at the height of his powers…YES!!! Classic Barolo to its very core — and awash with violets, roses, and peonies, with a dried cherry and lavender potpourri, and Turin’s famed torrones brushed with a whisper of sweet anise. The flavors are dark and sinfully decadent, with blackberries and black cherry kirsch, followed by charred rosemary and fresh-cut cedar, with a fine, mineral backbone of pulverized gravel. An uplifting finish of mint and menthol gives this just the right amount of brightness — yet make no mistake, this is a serious and brooding Barolo that was built to impress for a decade or more, without question. Immensely KILLER stuff, is what I’m getting at…heck, I’m getting a case at least! This 100% Nebbiolo fruit hails from PREMIER and pristine plots in his La Morra cru holdings, carefully blended by a winemaking wizard at the very peak of his powers. Roberto’s typical baseline Barolo del Comune di La Morra — if you’re lucky enough to even find it at one of the handful of shops in the USA that gets an allocation — STARTS at $159 a bottle for last year’s vintage…and NOBODY even has the 2021 ANYWHERE in the USA, yet! UNDER $60 is absolutely GROUND SHATTERING…so for all that is holy and good, do what you must and get a move on!!! This will SELL OUT and QUICKLY! While it lasts! There is NOT enough!
