Sélection Laurence Féraud Lirac 2020
Rhône Valley · Lirac · Rhône Blends · red
About this wine
And *POOF*!!! Laurence Féraud’s deliciously epic Cairanne red is gone, but WAIT! Did we just uncover an equally brilliant LIRAC for the exact same price??? YES!!! Domaine du Pegau’s Féraud family keeps the magic flowing with this luminous 92 POINT Lirac! Much like the Cairanne that came (and went) before it – this delectable and exceptional Rhône red thrives on a base of Grenache, plus some 20% medley of Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah & Carignan. Lirac is a stone’s throw over the river from Châteauneuf‐du‐Pape, and if today’s earlier Cairanne bottling was all elegance and Audrey Hepburn prettiness – this Lirac is more brooding and inky dark, with an 80s era Bruce Willis machismo. And like Die Hard (favorite Christmas movie!), this is just brilliant. Waves of black plums and blackberries, with zippy currants, and this smoky, volcanic intensity that lingers impressively. The finish is round, soft, and enjoyably fruity – making this almost…ALMOST…too easy to finish the entire bottle. At well over 50% OFF, and just $20 a bottle – this is the perfect cellar defender to have in your any day, all-the-time part of your wine collection (and if you don’t have one of those already, start building one with this)! An exceptional wine that once again proves that Southern Rhône is sooooo much more than just Châteauneuf‐du‐Pape – but at the same time…if you want to explore the regions beyond Avignon…having one of CdP’s most notable LEGENDS as your tour guide certainly isn’t the wrong way to go! 92 POINTS! Only $20! While it lasts!
