It’s my BIRTHDAY…and while I am still recovering slowly from yesterday’s over-indulgence with many-a-pint-o’the-black-stuff at my favorite Irish pub…I can crawl towards the rainbow’s end, and the proverbial pot o’gold that awaits with a glass of this! OVER 50% OFF, people! A little slice of Panzano heaven, where half Cabernet Sauvignon, a healthy dash of Petit Verdot, and some gorgeous Cabernet Franc come together…at a simply mind-rattlingly low price. The Cavalli Family has run this spectacular estate since the early 70’s, and if the name sounds familiar to you fashionistas out there, yes, it is that CAVALLI. Roberto Cavalli, who brought sand-blasted jeans and exotic animal prints to the forefront of 80’s fashion (the shame, the shame!), ran this estate for years with his son, Tomasso. Together, they bred horses, grew grapes, and made some truly amazing wines! He sadly passed in April 2024, but Tomasso has continued forth…and these beauties are worthy of a runway all their own! It’s soooo rich, and heady, and warmly spiced, and CLASSICALLY Italian. Sour cherries, black plums, a bit of rustic, sun-cracked leather saddle, with chipped stone and dusty herbs, and that unmistakable Tuscan pedigree resonating brightly. SweeTarts and raspberries, with sage, and blueberries, mint, and blood orange, too...WOWZA! Incredible depth and complexity — and worthy of a hearty Tuscan meal. A visit to Darrio the MAD BUTCHER of Chianti, just up the road perhaps? Oh, YES!!! I said 95 POINTS, right? FOR THIS PRICE?! Man, I love this job!! Under $40 for an Estate of the Gods wine like this? Ah, TUSCANY, glorious Tuscany shines bright again! While it lasts, friends!!
