About this wine
Oh, HENRY! Nope, I’m not talking about that terrible candy bar you’d always be stuck with at the end of the trick-or-treat session as a kid — I’m talking about 94 POINTS of single vineyard, Alexander Valley goodness, from a famous, old-school Sonoma family, for UNDER $20!!! TRIONE is here to liven up your MONDAY! Yes, yes, I know…we are all feeling that PFD (post-festival-depression) BIG TIME…but this is gonna fix that, right quick, I promise! Spring Marathon was a rousing success — easily the greatest EVER — and that is mostly, MOSTLY, thanks to each and every one of you!!! Sure, I might have given myself three new espresso ulcers…but such is the price of stardom. But, back into the mix, with regular (its NEVER regular) Last Bottle business to resume! And we’re breaking out one of Sonoma’s greatest wine families, the Triones. Remember GEYSER PEAK? Yeah, that was theirs. Three generations, with over 50 years of farming and winemaking experience, spread across 600 acres of vineyards throughout Sonoma County. Since 2005, they’ve focused on the family-run project of Trione Vineyards, and Henry’s Red Blend is one of the stalwarts — a Cabernet-based red blend from the family’s five acres on Geyserville Ranch. This 94 POINT 2019 vintage is absolutely BANGIN’ — and the critics just can’t get enough, calling it “alluring” and “nicely balanced, rounded and complete” and most importantly, “delicious”. I couldn’t have said it better myself — or at least with the complete lack of sleep I’m currently experiencing. Anywho, UNDER $20 is an absolute STEAL for a wine this delicious — and I’m really digging the opulence and spice profile of this 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec blend. TONS of red fruits — from cherries, to raspberries, and red currants, with some plum, and a perfectly judged balance of oak spice cool brightness. Cardamom and star anise, with nutmeg, plus a warm, terracotta clay, and cola-infusion that carries this to a satisfying finish! We loaded up with all that we could…the chance is now yours! Happy Monday, Last Bottlers!
